Passive principles for a Pakistani climate
Shade, cross-ventilation and a roof that does some work — without importing a temperate-climate checklist.
A verandah is not a style. In Islamabad it is a piece of plant: it keeps monsoon rain off the wall, west sun off the glass, and gives the house a room it can occupy when the interior is shut.
We are wary of copying temperate Passive House details into Islamabad, Lahore or Karachi without asking what the climate is actually doing. Airtightness still matters. Triple glazing often does not. Orientation, eaves and a roof that can reject heat will do more for comfort than a mechanical system sized off a bad envelope.
